Description
The Keysight 3458A is an 8.5-digit digital multimeter that has long served as a reference instrument in calibration laboratories and automated test systems. It measures DC and AC voltage, DC and AC current, two-wire and four-wire resistance, and frequency and period, and it can also act as a high-speed digitizer. Its low noise and long-term stability make it suitable for transferring calibrations and characterizing precision references, while its high reading rate serves production test. Metrology labs, standards labs and test engineers use it where measurement uncertainty must be kept as low as possible.
Key features
- 8.5-digit resolution for DC voltage and resistance
- One-year DC voltage accuracy of 8 ppm (4 ppm with Option 002)
- Reading rates up to 100,000 readings per second at 4.5 digits
- Built-in digitizing of DC-coupled and AC signals
- GPIB interface for system integration
Typical applications
- Calibration of process calibrators and lower-accuracy DMMs
- Characterization of voltage references and standard resistors
- High-speed measurements in automated test systems
- Metrology and standards laboratory work
