Description
The Keysight E5052B is a signal source analyzer built to characterize oscillators, synthesizers, VCOs and PLLs from 10 MHz to 7 GHz. Its main strength is phase noise measurement using a cross-correlation technique that lowers the instrument’s own noise contribution. It also captures frequency, power and phase transients, measures VCO tuning characteristics with built-in low-noise DC supplies, and offers a spectrum monitor view. RF designers and production test teams use it to verify clock sources and frequency synthesis performance. The E5052B is an established model in the Keysight line.
Key features
- Phase noise measurement with cross-correlation for low measurement floor
- Input frequency range of 10 MHz to 7 GHz
- Frequency, power and phase transient analysis
- VCO characterization with built-in DC control and supply sources
- Spectrum monitor and frequency/power measurements
- Frequency range extendable with an external downconverter
Typical applications
- Phase noise testing of crystal oscillators and synthesizers
- VCO tuning sensitivity and pushing measurements
- PLL lock time and settling analysis
- Clock source verification in production test
